Beijing Children's Hospital, affiliated to Capital Medical University, grew out of the private children's hospital founded in 1942 by Zhu Futang, a founder of modern Chinese pediatrics. It is the National Center for Children's Health and one of the largest specialized tertiary children's hospitals in China, serving as a national referral center for complex and critical pediatric conditions, with flagship programs in pediatric internal medicine, pediatric surgery, neonatal intensive care and pediatric hematology-oncology. In the 2023 Fudan Specialty Reputation Rankings, Beijing Children's Hospital is listed among the top ten in 2 specialties, ranking No. 1 in pediatric surgery and No. 2 in pediatrics.

These points can help guide your research; they do not determine whether a hospital or treatment is right for you. Clinical decisions are made by the hospital’s licensed doctors.
The following reflects what we have learned while supporting international patients. Appointment arrangements, services and fees can vary; please confirm current details with the hospital.
Based on our experience, appointments through the International Medical Department may become available about seven days in advance. If you plan to go independently, you may be able to book a few days ahead through the hospital’s official app or in person. The app does not offer an English interface, and registration counters may not have bilingual staff.
In our experience, foreign patients are generally not required to use an International Medical Department, though hospital policies may vary. Fees there are often substantially higher than at standard outpatient clinics. In return, it may offer dedicated consultation rooms, shorter waits, longer appointments and, in some cases, the ability to use international health insurance. For patients travelling alone, the additional support may make the visit easier.
For self-funded patients seeking a more economical option, we can help arrange care through the same channels used by local patients. Based on our experience, even after adding our coordination fee, the overall cost can be considerably lower than using the International Medical Department, while including advance appointment coordination, bilingual escort support and English medical reports.
A quick comparison of what you will need to arrange when travelling independently and what our coordination service can help with.
