Founded in 1933, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine) is one of China's most powerful comprehensive hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine and is known as "the foremost TCM institution in southern China." It excels in integrated TCM-and-Western-medicine treatment for complex diseases and chronic conditioning, featuring Lingnan Chen's acupuncture and medicinal moxibustion therapy. These points can help guide your research; they do not determine whether a hospital or treatment is right for you. Clinical decisions are made by the hospital’s licensed doctors.
The following reflects what we have learned while supporting international patients. Appointment arrangements, services and fees can vary; please confirm current details with the hospital.
Based on our experience, appointments for the hospital's international medical services are best arranged in advance, and the hospital is extremely busy with both local and overseas patients. The main hospital app and on-site registration do not offer an English interface, and counters may not have bilingual staff, so overseas patients usually find the international service the smoother route.
In our experience, foreign patients are generally not required to use an international service, though hospital policies may vary. Fees there are often substantially higher than at standard outpatient clinics. In return, it may offer dedicated consultation rooms, shorter waits, longer appointments and, in some cases, the ability to use international health insurance. For patients travelling alone, the additional support may make the visit easier.
For self-funded patients seeking a more economical option, we can help arrange care through the same channels used by local patients. Based on our experience, even after adding our coordination fee, the overall cost can be considerably lower than using the international service, while including advance appointment coordination, bilingual escort support and English medical reports.
